The Barcelona plant
Originally a family business, the Juanola company was started at the beginning of the 20th century to produce liquorice pills.
“Pastillas Juanola” were produced in a laboratory in Gracia, Barcelona, for 90 years. In 2005 Angelini decided to transfer the facility to its present site 20 km outside Barcelona.
The new plant is equipped with highly modern technologies, but the traditional formulation with natural ingredients and craft production has been maintained. Different flavours have been introduced in recent years, and production of Juanola brand products today totals almost three million units a year.
Quality is a top priority: the plant is constantly updated on compliance with food quality standards in accordance with current regulations. It also has a series of RSIPAC KEY authorisations for packaging, storage, manufacturing of sweets, liquorice products and chewing gum and their importation and packing, and for the manufacture and processing or aromas.
