Angelini's Fine Chemicals Plant Angelini’s fine chemicals plant in Italy specialises in the manufacture of pharmaceutical active substances and advanced intermediate products, and in contract manufacturing and custom synthesis, in some cases on behalf of the major multinationals and biotechnological companies operating in the sector. The manufacturing facilities are located in Aprilia, in the province of Latina. The Company focuses on the manufacture of original fine chemicals developed through in-house research, active substances under license and intermediate products. Most of the chemicals are destined for export, mainly to the United States and to EU countries. The production plant has obtained Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and operates in line with national, European and US standards and regulations. It has also obtained current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) certification. The fine chemicals plant is equipped with laboratories specialising in researching and developing new production processes and innovative formulations. All checking, control and analysis procedures draw on IT support and ensure the highest possible safety and quality standards at all production stages. Environmental protecting is a key priority for Angelini fine chemicals. In accordance with Italian and European regulations, the plant uses the most advanced technologies and instruments. The production plant is equipped to treat waste water, recover solvents, monitor gas emissions and make rational use of energy sources and resources. |

Ten years later the Company built the Aprilia plant, in the province of Latina, and transferred all its operations there. In 1999, a new pilot plant responding to cGMP requirements and equipped for the manufacture of small quantities and the testing of new work processes began operating. A micronisation unit was installed in 2002. Today the plant extends to 70,000 square metres and has three manufacturing units, with an overall capacity of 140,000 litres, and modern laboratories for R&D, testing and analysis.
